Work at Fairtrade

People are at the heart of what’s important at Fairtrade. Our people enable us to deliver more impact where it matters.

While our regional offices are based in Australia and New Zealand our teams work extensively throughout Asia Pacific. We’re also connected with our colleagues around the world who support Fairtrade’s 1.65 million producers across 74 countries.

A career with Fairtrade could include anything from providing direct support to farmers and workers in developing countries, to helping promote the exciting work of Fairtrade or working alongside businesses to help put in place sustainable supply chains. We also have a team dedicated to ensuring the Fairtrade Mark is being used correctly and that our Standards are upheld.

Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand is seeking a Business Development Officer to join our dynamic commercial team.

Your role will be to build relationships with Australian companies and organisations to promote and create market demand for Fairtrade Certified products. We work with a range of businesses in FMCG along with other stakeholders, including communities, councils and workplaces, so experience in working with a variety of clients will help you succeed.

Your commercial acumen, strong communication and skills ability to think creatively will enable you to identify innovative opportunities and deliver unique partnerships to further Fairtrade’s work.

Ideally you will have account management experience in the food and/or retail industry which will help you to adapt and pitch marketing campaigns to partners to increase awareness and purchasing of Fairtrade certified products.

You will be skilled at managing B2B communications and will be at ease representing Fairtrade at events that target new and existing partners.

And because our work is about making the biggest impact for farmers in developing countries, it is important that you can track and report on your success.

You'll join a dedicated and passionate team that thrives on new ideas and challenging the status quo; after all that is how Fairtrade first began.
